#motivationalmonday: lose your mind #amwriting

So this weekend I was having trouble clinging to reality.  Kept making up scenes and stories left and right. Maybe it was the flu speaking. Maybe it was writing 5k words Saturday night non stop. Whatever it was, reality was getting blurrier.

And normally, as a writer, that would be a good thing.

But since I had to work on Monday, I had to keep one foot in reality and one foot…well, everywhere else.

So today’s motivational music selection will help you take your mind to a new world, so you can devise new plots, scenes and stories just as I did. Cheers for imagination.

Motivating Music:

1. Pheonix – 1901

Let your mind time travel with this catchy tune….

2. Audioslave – Be Yourself

An oldie but goodie. If nothing else maybe it’ll remind you of a funny scene from Scrubs and put a smile on your face.

3. The Beatles – Here Comes the Sun

Just because it makes me think of Doctor Who. “Where was I? Here Comes the Sun…no!” Ah David Tennant…he’ll always be my doctor 🙂

Motivating soundtrack music to take you away…

1. The Chemical Brothers – Container Park – Hanna ST

I haven’t seen the movie yet, will this week for my birthday but I put this song on repeat and pobably wrote 2k words to it. Hopefully it’ll do the same for you.

2. Various Artists – Where is my Mind – Suckerpunch ST

A must especially if you’re writing Steampunk like me. If not, it’s just a kick ass remake of the Pixies classic.

3. Jim’s Theme, I’m Still Here – Treasure Planet

Especially if you’re writing YA, this will take you back to your teenage days where you felt like no one understands you.

Motivational Quotes:

“The world is a book and those who do not travel only read one page.” ~ St. Augustine

“A journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it.”  ~John Steinbeck

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” ~Henry Miller

So if you’re having a bad day, just let your mind wonder and know that it will be okay.

Hope that helped!

Stay Shiny,
❤ Claire
